Something new appeared in my fourth week's CSA share from the Colvin Family Farm: RAT TAIL RADISH!
I've never seen nor heard of this type of radish before, but as soon as I got home and washed off the rat tail radish, I popped a pod in my mouth and ate it up. It had the same crunch of a radish but with more of a peppery/mustardy spice that reminded me of the kick from arugula. Obviously the rat tail radish would go great in salad, but I'm thinking that I could pickle these and incorporate them into an Asian style dish. I have much experimenting to do, and I'm excited!
Other things in the box from week four:
- Collard greens
- Summer squash
- Green beans
- Sweet onions
- Curly kale
Can't wait to cook with the rat tail radish... If I don't eat them all raw first.
