I have a mystery in this week's box... What are those green things that look like a cross between lettuce and cabbage and tastes like Brussels sprouts??? I have absolutely no clue. The leaves are thick and waxy, and when I tasted a leaf, it was peppery like a Brussels sprout. But they are way larger than Brussels sprouts and less packed (leaf-wise) and not as round as cabbage. But the shape was long like a tightly packed head of lettuce.
I'm not sure what it is, but I'm going to do my usual trick of sauteing it in olive oil with salt, pepper, and minced garlic. That's a no-fail way to cook any vegetable, and I'm sure it'll turn out tasty.
Here's everything from this week's pickup:
- Mystery greens (Any guesses?)
- Bell peppers
- Globe zucchini
- Yellow squash
- Jalapeno peppers
