CSA: Week 5

Transient

Loads of good stuff in our share this week:

  • Spring onions
  • Zucchini squash
  • Cucumbers
  • Green cabbage
  • Red cabbage
  • Two heads of lettuce
  • Arugula
  • Yellow squash
  • Red potatoes
  • Garlic

Our box was so heavy that a lady stopped us as we were walking around the market because she saw the bottom bulging and was afraid we were about to spill all our veggies.

My challenge this week is to make slaw. I’ve never made slaw before, but I’m thinking of trying out a few different recipes. Can’t wait to see how that goes.

We also harvested a bunch of collard greens from our own garden, along with several gigantic cucumbers. Brandon’s going to make some quick pickles later on. Our green bell peppers have grown quite a bit, so we’ve been eating them in our salads. My parsley has exploded, so I plan on making lots of chimichurri this week. And our Japanese eggplants are almost ready! Mmm…

CSA: Week 4

Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to photograph the produce we received for Week 4 because I had to hit the road (plane) immediately after picking up our share, but here’s what we got in our box:

  • Potatoes (about a couple of pounds)
  • Cucumbers
  • Zucchini squash
  • Yellow squash
  • Two heads of beautiful lettuce — the lettuce has been amazing this year!
  • Arugula
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Radishes

Brandon had the pleasure of eating everything from our Week 4 box by himself. :)
