Here's the real reason we were in Brussels: Delirium Tremens.
Brandon read that the Delirium Tremens Café had been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as having the most beers in one bar. Delirium has more than 2,000 -- and what Brandon was most excited about was the selection of amazing Belgian beers available. Including the café's own beer, which we tried with our first dinner at Paris.
By the time we got to the café, I think it was probably after 10 p.m., it was packed with drunk young people. The scene was a bit noisier and rowdier than we were prepared to handle, but thankfully there is a smaller version of the café called Delirium Monasterium that specialized in Trappist ales (Brandon's favorite) and vodkas (also Brandon's favorite). So we decided to do our drinking there.
The menu for the Monasterium was much smaller than the Café menu (of 2,000+ beers) -- but the selection of 100 Abbeys and Trappists beers and 400 vodkas was nothing to laugh at.
We had a lot of beer that night, and unfortunately I do not remember what we drank. At one point, Brandon was drinking multiple beers at the same time. And at another point, I saw a man wearing a chicken costume dance in front of the window that I was facing. At least I think I saw that.
